Why does hair loss happen?

Male pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia, is the most common type of hair loss that affecting both men and women where the hair gradually thins out leads to partial or complete balding.
Hair loss might have occurred for various reasons; however, a hair transplant for a receding hairline can restore your previous appearance with long-term results. A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that involves transferring healthy hair follicles from one area of the scalp, called the donor site, to the balding or thinning areas, known as the recipient site. The transplanted hair continues to grow naturally, restoring a fuller and more youthful appearance.
For one week prior to the procedure:
- Relax instead of exerting yourself.
- Avoid smoking, alcohol, and excessive coffee/tea consumption.
- For three days before surgery, use an anti-dandruff shampoo.
- The transplanted area should be protected from the sun. After the dressing is done in the clinic along with de scabbing, which is done on day 7, shampooing should be done afterwards.
- The relocated hairs may fall out eventually during the next few weeks, which is termed as “Shock Loss”, though the transplanted hair follicle would continue to grow new hair that would thicken over the next six to seven months.
How does it work
- Before treatment, the scalp is washed, and local anesthesia is given to numb the area of surgery.
- Then a follicular unit extraction procedure is performed to transplant hair follicles to the desired location.
- The procedure might take around 6-8 hours or more which is needed to transplant 3000 hair grafts in a single session. If the required graft is more than 3000 we plan a second session.

There is little risk associated with the procedure as it is a surgical procedure; however, any side effects will subside within a few weeks. Infection, bleeding, swelling, crust formation at the surgical site, itching, folliculitis are a few risks post-treatment.
