Your own body holds the secret to restoring your lifeless hair with a new lease of life, & we make it possible for you to explore that potential to revive your lustrous locks. Growth Factors from your own body have the tremendous power to restore your hair to a shiny mane.
GFC stands for Growth Factor Concentrates, which are extracted from patients’ own blood platelets. GFC’s are the proteins that are responsible for growth and healing during any cut or wound. When a concentrate rich in these growth factors is injected into the scalp, it reduces hair fall and strengthens existing hair.
Specific proteins in the GFC play a different role in reducing hair fall;
- PDGF or Platelets derived growth factor stimulates mesenchymal stem cells for hair growth.
- VEGF or Vascular endothelial growth factor & EGF or Epidermal growth factor leads to new blood vessel formation to support new hair growth.
- IGF-1 or Insulin-like growth factor-1 works towards maintaining hair follicles.
There are no activity restrictions before the GFC therapy.
- Avoid combing and touching your hair or scalp for a day.
- Prevent sweating caused by strenuous physical work and intense workouts for four days following the procedure.
- Don’t shampoo your hair for one days and only use products recommended by your doctor.
- Regular topical medication or drug intake is required per the doctor’s advice.
How does it work
The procedure involves extracting approximately 16ml of the patient’s blood in GFC tubes, which are then left for 30 minutes. The GFC tubes contain platelets activating factors, which lead to release of Growth Factors.
The blood sample is put in a centrifuge to allow the separation of plasma and growth factors. The centrifuge is done at 3400 rpm for 10 minutes.
With the use of fine needles, the collected growth factor concentrates are injected onto the scalp.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both GFC and PRP are derived from patients’ blood; however, GFC contains high and pure concentrations of growth compared to PRP, which might have some unwanted cells.
When it comes to results, PRP has shown variable results with a long duration of time. At the same time, GFC has been showing consistent results within a less time duration.
The use of patients’ own blood to extract GFC adds to its safety and efficacy.
The growth factor concentrate is prepared in a very sterile condition reducing any chance of infection during the procedure.
Though mild soreness, pain, or inflammation may occur for a few hours after the treatment, which does not pose any specific concern and reduces within a few hours.
Patients should apply to medicate hair serums at night, and recommended supplements of protein and calcium are needed to achieve desired results.
